Boston Leaders for Education Members have as individuals and as an organization been involved for the past nine years in targeted activities designed to improve Massachusetts and,  in particular, Boston schools.

BLE supports reforms that have led to some success in transforming under-performing schools by:

• Targeting efforts to restructure the central office to facilitate school autonomy;

• Supporting new teaching approaches;

• Helping to identify and act on the tough financial decisions to close low-performing schools thereby shifting supporting to more promising schools;

• Disseminating the best practices of successful BPS schools, public charter, parochial and private schools;

• Working to pass legislation to increase the number of charter schools.
